Sarandon Does Not Hold Back

Actress Susan Sarandon is not holding back any punches. The well-known left-leaning stalwart of Hollywood is criticizing her own party for their failure to push through the much-needed COVID-19 economic relief package, particularly the personal stimulus checks. In her remarks on Thursday, Sarandon warned that the Democratic Party will collapse in the 2022 mid-terms if they do not deliver on their own promises.

Series of Tweets

Sarandon made the remarks in a series of tweets, making her position quite clear. In addition to expressing her personal feelings on the matter, she also tagged President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Sen. Jon Ossoff, and Sen. Raphael Warnock.

Particularly important to her was the fact that these four Democratic leaders promised to cut personal stimulus checks in the amount of $2,000 for qualified Americans while campaigning during the Georgia special election in January. However, now this number is being walked back, and $1,400 is being thrown around instead.

Democrats Counter-Argument

Democrats continue to argue that the $1,400 is equal to $2,000 when the previous $600 stimulus is factored into the equation. Sarandon shut that argument down by tweeting a mash-up video featuring all of Biden’s promises about the $2,000 checks. Additionally, Sarandon pointed out that the checks were promised immediately. It has now been over a month since the Georgia election and Congress has yet to even vote on the COVID-19 relief package.

Sarandon’s Politics

Although Sarandon identifies with the Democratic Party, her beliefs clearly land way left of center. She is known for her extreme leftist views and for not hesitating to call out her own party when she disagrees with its leaders.
