Virginia Teen Admonished for Trailblazer Selection

This was not how Julia Saville expected this to turn out. In an attempt to broaden her horizons and learn more about different cultures, Saville joined the Black Student Union (BSU) at St. Margaret’s High School in Tappahannock, Virginia. As part of a celebration of Black History Month, the BSU asked members to choose different Black trailblazers who have made significant impacts on Black American history.

Saville Chooses Candice Owens

To comply with the assignment, Saville decided to choose Candace Owens as one of her trailblazers. As the founder of Blexit, Owens is frequently in the news, drawing the chagrin of many liberals who see her as an affront to her race solely because of her conservative viewpoints.

Every member of the BSU was also scheduled to present their selection to the school.

Saville Condemned Via Email

Just prior to taking to the stage for her presentation, Saville received an email condemning her for her choice of Owens as one of her trailblazers. The vile email said that Owens was not worthy of being named a trailblazer, shunning Saville for exercising her freedom of choice to make this personal selection. Saville was not only the recipient of the email. The message also went out to the entire school’s students and staff.

Additional Trailblazers Chosen by Saville

What is ironic is that Owens was the only trailblazer who was called out.

In addition to Owens, Saville also chose the famous abolitionist Harriet Tubman, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson as trailblazers on their own merit. However, none of these choices received any of the scrutiny that Owens did.
