Lax Policies on Immigration Spell Trouble for Biden
Despite taking drastic action during his first days in office, President Joe Biden is now blaming former President Donald Trump for the current border crisis. It is no surprise that the Biden camp blames Trump for the mess that they themselves created due to their lax policies on immigration.
Biden’s First Moves Regarding Border
Upon arriving at the Oval Office, Biden eliminated the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP). These protocols had been in place to keep migrants from entering the U.S. while waiting for their hearings. As a substitute for this policy, Biden instead reverted to the previous catch-and-release policy that allows illegal aliens to legally enter the country.
Not surprisingly, the influx of aliens crossing over the border increased exponentially. In February alone, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents detained almost 100,000 people at the border. This number compares to just 16,000 that were apprehended last April.
According to Julie Chavez Rodriguez, director of the White House office of intergovernmental affairs, the Biden administration inherited “an absolute mess from the previous administration.” Chavez Rodriguez is blaming Trump’s team for not cooperating with Biden’s transition team by preventing them from ascertaining a realistic view of the true situation at the border.
New Legislation on the Horizon?
According to a report from Fox News, the Biden team is considering releasing the migrants into the country without issuing a formal Notice to Appear (NTA). This means that they will leave custody without a court date on the calendar.
The administration is finally admitting that the illegal aliens are overwhelming the borders, forcing them to call in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
