Joe Biden is a frail old man who tires quickly and avoids reporters and tough questions like the plague and, frankly, just doesn’t look like he’s long for this world.

All of that is obvious and has been obvious for some time. It’s so obvious, in fact, that before he was even put into the White House, people had been predicting that Biden would soon be shunted aside and that Kamala Harris would be installed as president.

Those kinds of speculations may have seemed outlandish to some, given how unprecedented that would be, but a recent White House memo has done a great deal to make those speculations appear reasonable.

Who’s Really in Charge Here?

On more than one occasion, Biden has referred to Kamala Harris as “President Harris,” even though she is technically the vice president.

Harris has also been making many more public appearances of late, increasingly involving herself in foreign policy decisions, and has been seen traveling with Biden frequently, even though this breaks with long-established White House protocol.

According to a memo circulated by a White House communications official by email, federal agencies are being instructed to refer to the Biden administration as the “Biden-Harris Administration.”

To quote the leaked memo directly, “Please be sure to reference the current administration as the ‘Biden-Harris Administration’ in official public communications.”

Of course, this could just be yet another symbolic and ultimately meaningless nod in the direction of identity politics. Moves like this are a long-established tactic of the establishment: They make some symbolic concessions to some identity group in order to score woke plaudits, but real power always remains with the establishment.

Even though this memo breaks with history and precedent in a jarring way—after all, the vice president is often little more than a mere figurehead—that could be all there is to it.

Unfortunately, given Biden’s obvious fragility and evident mental decline, what’s in this memo deserves to be taken much more seriously than it would under any other circumstances.

Is Biden going to be pushed out before his first term ends? Will Biden’s own statement about how he will “develop some disease” and step aside for Kamala Harris come true?

It’s certainly surreal to think about. It defies the belief that a woman whom essentially no one voted for—whom not even Democrats liked as evidenced by her atrocious primary performance—could become the president.

Just imagine how many awkward and completely inappropriate cackles people will have to endure. The media will try to spin things to make her seem likable, but she already comes off as a sociopath trying to simulate genuine human emotion.

People have long insinuated that Biden is not really in charge of his administration.

It seems like those people are right.
