Popular Harry Potter Franchise Has Experienced Loss Over the Years
With an entertainment franchise as long-running as Harry Potter, it is not surprising to learn that so many of the beloved actors have since passed away. Here is a look at a few of the most notable deaths in the movie franchise since the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie.
The actor who played Albus Dumbledore died in 2002. As the original Dumbledore, Richard Harris earned a place in the hearts of many Harry Potter fans. Harris died at the age of 72 from an aggressive type of Hodgkin’s disease.
Although he played Vernon Dursley, the character that everyone loves to hate, Richard Griffiths still endeared himself to the fans of the franchise. He passed away from complications that he suffered after heart surgery in 2013.
The actor who played the notorious Severus Snape sadly passed away from cancer in 2016 at the age of 69. Alan Rickman was praised by many for his talent and mentorship. Fellow actor Daniel Radcliffe said that Rickman taught him lessons that he will carry with him for the entirety of his life and career.
In an utterly tragic event, the actor who played Marcus Belby died in 2008 while trying to protect his 16-year-old brother. Rob Knox was allegedly shielding his brother from a group of people inside of a London club when he was stabbed to death. The actor had recently just wrapped up filming for the “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” at the time of his death.
