Conan O’Brien is one of the mainstays of late-night television. Indeed, he is one of the medium’s greatest legends, often spoken of in the same breath as other greats like Jay Leno, David Letterman and Johnny Carson.

Even before he started piloting the ship over NBC’s “Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” he worked as a writer for both “Saturday Night Live” and “The Simpsons.”

But despite a great deal of time spent in the public eye, Conan O’Brien’s family is not nearly as well-known as he is.

Let’s take a brief dip into the family background of one of the funniest men on TV.

Some Info on Conan’s Family

Conan’s parents are Thomas and Ruth O’Brien.

Thomas is a doctor and an epidemiologist who once managed the infectious disease department at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, and even worked at Harvard Medical School. Ruth is a retired attorney who was once a partner at the prestigious Boston law firm, Ropes & Gray.

In addition to his parents, O’Brien also has three brothers, none of whom have any connection to the entertainment industry and all of whom prefer to live private lives. This is especially true of Conan’s eldest brother, Neal.

Luke O’Brien, another of Conan’s older brothers, is also a lawyer like his mother was. He now works at Trinity Law Group, LLC in Massachusetts, a Westwood-based law firm that provides legal services and advice to businessmen and investors.

Conan’s youngest brother, Justin, is also a lawyer who works in Boston. Before embarking on his legal career, he worked in politics as a campaign organizer for former Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy and former Senator and current Biden Administration official John Kerry. Justin O’Brien was also once a deputy director of the Boston Democratic Party.

Conan O’Brien also has sisters — two of them, in fact. His sister Kate works as a teacher but is also a credited actress. Her first role was in the 2010 film “The Fighter.” Conan’s other sister, Jane, is a producer and freelance writer who once edited episodes of “The Simpsons” and even wrote an episode herself called “Lord of the Dance.”

Conan and his wife Liza Powell, whom he married in January 2002, also have two children: a daughter, Neve, and a son, Beckett, born in October 2003 and November 2005, respectively. Conan’s wife is now a screenwriter.

Be sure to catch the final episode of “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” when it airs this week on June 24 at 11 p.m. EST on TBS. After that, Conan will be moving on to HBO Max.
