Amid recent reports of CNN’s dwindling ratings, there must be an honorary spot for Jake Tapper’s show, which has lost three-quarters of its viewers.
What’s even worse, his viewership declined by a whopping 49% in the second quarter of 2021 compared with the first.
Not just that, as Fox News reports, The Lead with Jake Tapper, which occupies the 4 pm – 6 pm timeslot, has seen the number of its viewers in the most vital demographic of 25-54 collapse by 79% in the first three weeks of June!
That is also a 47% drop in that age group in the second quarter of the year compared with the first.
CNN is nothing without Trump
CNN’s recent performance has been abysmal as it has been struggling to find a topic to talk about, now that President Donald Trump is no longer in the White House.
Its entire programming was occupied with Trump-bashing – so much so that the network’s raison d’être for the past year, and even prior to that, has been to lie about the 45th president of the United States in order to bring him down.
This much has been proven indisputably by James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas which showed a CNN director taking credit for Trump’s ousting.
Project Veritas has caught Charlie Chester, CNN’s Technical Director, boasting that the network had exaggerated Trump’s medical problems, misstated COVID-19 deaths, and engaged in other forms of propaganda against 45th.
Chester is convinced that CNN “got Trump out”, and that he probably wouldn’t have been “voted out” if it hadn’t been for the network.
When the entire television had been turned into a cannon firing non-stop at a single politician, there is little wonder that CNN’s ratings are tanking big time.
Consider Tapper, the journalist who was even handed a press award for spreading fake news about Russia’s role with respect to the Trump administration!
Fox News beats Tapper by 229%!
Regardless of whether you love or hate President Trump, one can’t help but wonder what’s the point of watching CNN now that he’s out of the White House.
As Fox News pointed out, Jake Tapper’s own politics interfere with his supposedly objective news coverage.
Before going into journalism, Tapper used to be a Democrat congressional staffer and part of an anti-gun rights group.
His entire performance on CNN has been very far from the network’s original “facts-only” journalistic approach.
Now, it is just a thing of the past.
Tapper’s show has been unquestionably biased – even though he claims to be an objective journalist, whereas the Republican Party is the one to “deviate” from “normal political behavior.”
When CNN projected that Trump was going to lose the presidential election last November, it was Tapper who declared that a “long national nightmare” had ended for dozens of millions of Americans.
Tapper’s decline must be even more hurtful for CNN considering that as recently as April 2021 it expanded his show and gave him an extra hour on the air.
However, “The Lead” got only about 799,000 viewers on average in the 5-6 pm ET window.
Against that backdrop, Fox News’ “The Five” had 2.6 million on average in the same timeslot, thus beating Tapper by 229%!
