Sadly, the world is not always a nice or hospitable place. Predators and exploiters do exist, and they claim victims every day.

For young women, being leered at and possibly assaulted by creepy and predatory men is a concern. It’s a risk that they take every day and need to be on the lookout for, especially when they go out to strange or unusual places.

One young woman, a TikTok user named Alli, going by the handle alli.likes.adventure, had an encounter like this that was a bit too close for comfort. In fact, she nearly ingested a date rape drug while out one night. Her friend even got some of it into her system, but thanks to Alli’s quick thinking, both women were able to escape the situation without anything terrible happening to either one of them.

She then made a TikTok video recounting her experience and offering advice to other women so that they can avoid or get out of similar situations. The video has already garnered more than 3 million views.

A Harrowing Ordeal

The story begins simply enough. Alli and one of her friends went out to a bar that they had never been to before. As her friend leaves to fetch them another round of drinks, a man approaches Alli with a drink in his hand and asks if she’d like a drink. She politely declines.

Later, when this man and two of his friends try shoving beers into the hands of both women, Allie becomes worried.

Alli’s friend starts to drink, but Alli refuses. Thinking quickly, she gets the bright idea of telling the man who gave her the beer to drink from it himself. When he freezes up and refuses to take a drink, Alli learns everything she needs to know: Those beers were spiked with date rape drugs.

She quickly takes her friend by the hand and gets out of there. Her friend soon becomes groggy, proving those suspicions correct.

The general moral of this story is that if your intuition tells you that something is off about someone, you should trust it.

Sometimes, it can be difficult to distinguish the effects of a date rape drug from those of simply drinking too much alcohol, but if you feel drunk or groggy without having drunk anything, feel like you might lose consciousness, can’t remember how you got somewhere, or anything similar, you may have been hit with such a drug.

When you go out, always be on the alert, and bring at least one trusted friend with you so that the two of you can look out for one another.
