Sean Penn, a typical leftist blowhard from Hollywood, recently decided — once again — to behave like a typical leftist blowhard from Hollywood.
As one can easily surmise given Penn’s milieu, his opinions on virtually every political subject under the sun are utterly predictable.
Of course, this includes Penn’s opinion on the subject of COVID-19 vaccines. One can accurately guess Penn’s views on this matter without even bothering to research what they are — so utterly does groupthink dominate within Hollywood. And given the sheer number of celebrities and social media influencers who have been enlisted to help in the propaganda blitz to encourage vaccination, one would really have to be living under a rock not to be able to guess Penn’s views.
And so, of course, on Wednesday, August 11, Penn decided to publicly express his views on COVID-19 vaccination — obnoxiously, as is his wont. Shortly after he did so, one of those extremely rare birds, a Hollywood conservative — in this case, actor James Woods — appeared to smack him straight down on Twitter.
Since this was an especially pithy and forceful smackdown, it is worthy of some comment.
James Woods Brings the Heat
Penn is currently starring in Starz’s Watergate-Based series “Gaslit.” However, not long ago, he announced that he would not be returning to the set of the show until everyone working in “Zone A” — a bit of industry jargon for those who happen to be working close to filming — had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Again, this is all about a disease which, for those who are under 70 and do not have serious health problems, is less dangerous than the seasonal flu.
As Penn said to Yahoo News, “My deep belief is that [being vaccinated is] no different than having everybody being able to drive 100 miles-per-hour in a car. This is one of those things that should be mandatory that we all get without exception.”
Penn, as you might have guessed, had no patience for or desire to understand those who were skeptical of the vaccine’s efficacy or its ability to generate other health problems, dismissing all such people as “siloed” and “lack[ing]… information and understanding of anything that’s helpful to the human race.”
Of course, when Penn talks about “information,” he means only information given out by pre-screened and pre-selected government experts.
And so James Woods showed up to put Penn in his place. Replying on Twitter to Penn’s announcement, Woods simply said, “Or proof of citizenship to vote?”
And with those simple words, James Woods set off a nuclear bomb.
