A 17-year-old immigrant teen from Sudan, Ahmedal Tayeb Elnouman Modawi, has been released on bail to be able to go to school and church even though he killed three people in a joyriding incident.

Modawi made bail which was set at $220,000, having initially been determined at $350,000, and then lowered.

As per conditions of his release, he will be able to attend school and church but must wear a GPS ankle monitor, KPRC-TV reported.

Mowing down 3 on a joyride in a customer’s car

The Sudanese teenager, who is not an American citizen, will thus be able to go back to normal just weeks after he got charged with one count of aggravated assault and three counts of murder.

On October 1, the immigrant 17-year-old ran over and killed three unsuspecting valets after he was trying to flee from the police after engaging in a joyride in Houston.

Modawi was working as a valet at a restaurant in Houston.

Around 10:30 pm on October 1, he was seen by the police doing stunts with customers’ white Infiniti G37.

As the police officer who saw him hit the siren and lights, Modawi tried to escape but instead hit and killed three other valets working at a different restaurant nearby: 22-year-old Eric Orduna, 23-year-old Nick Rodriguez, and 18-year-old Fnan Measho.

Modawi then flipped the car crashing into a fence, with him and a passenger both suffering leg injuries.

Sean Teare, assistant DA of Harris County, Texas, stated that the three killed valets were just going about doing their jobs when they were mowed down by Modawi in a customer’s car.

At the time, three victims had just come back from parking cars, and were going to get more vehicles to park.

Teare emphasized that the state of Texas is “going to prosecute” Modawi “to the fullest extent possible” because what he did is “completely unacceptable.”

‘It’s totaled’

The customer who owned the vehicle that the Sudanese teenager crashed also told his story, wondering what Modawi might have been thinking when he went out to do stunts with a car that he was only supposed to park.

Johntrel Lewis had actually come out of the sports bar to take a picture of the crashed car, thinking that the owner would be really mad – when he realized it was his own car that had been destroyed.

After he got a ride to go home, he was contacted by the police, with a detective telling him that his car was used in a homicide, and “it’s totaled” and he couldn’t do anything about that.

The report also cited an eyewitness who was at a nearby venue at the time of the incident, Bob Lowry, who described what he heard as a “clap of thunder”.

Lowry saw the car just “flying through the air” and hitting the ditch, and lamented the killing of the three innocent valets who were only doing their jobs.
