Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe has finally released the report due at the end of 2020 showing that China attempted to interfere with the Nov. 3, 2020, general election. Ratcliffe claims that not only did China interfere with the election, but many people within federal government agencies withheld or delayed information from him while he was compiling the report.
Election Security Issues Found
The two-page public report was released on Jan. 17th. In the letter, Ratcliffe notes that he found many election security issues beyond his report’s scope.
CIA Analysts Guilty of Breaking Terrorism Act
He continues in his report to say that he felt the conduct by some CIA analysts put them in violation of numerous sections of the International Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act because they let their political viewpoints get in the way of delivering unbiased information.
Different Standards Applied Across the Globe
Since different intelligent analysts across the world used different standards to judge the information they received, Congress and the American people could easily get the idea that Russia interfered with elections while China did not. It is Ratcliffe’s findings that when the same standards are applied, China interfered with U.S. elections.
The Director of National Intelligence Concludes China Interfered With U.S. Elections
Ratcliffe concludes his letter by saying that the People’s Republic of China sought to interfere with the 2020 U.S. federal elections. He also calls for the intelligence community to address their concerns with China.
On Dec. 3, 2020, Ratcliffe wrote an op-ed stating that China poses the greatest threat to America and democracy and freedom worldwide since World War II. In his op-ed, Ratcliffe claimed that China intends to dominate the world militarily, technologically and economically.
