The White House on Friday had no decent answer to the question of why all of a sudden it just stopped holding its briefings on the situation with the coronavirus pandemic after the CDC issued new mask guidance several days ago.
On Tuesday, July 27, against the backdrop of spiking COVID-19 infections attributed to the Indian delta variant, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released its latest guidelines recommending that even fully vaccinated people wear masks indoors.
However, no White House coronavirus briefings have been held since then, and on Friday the office of Democrat President Joe Biden was unable to offer any plausible answer as to why that has been the case.
Where’d the doctors go?
The Biden administration has at least been regular in terms of having health officials answer reporters at the White House, whether their answers have been helpful or not.
The briefings have usually been led by Jeff Zients, the White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator, and would include CDC Director Rochelle Walensky and Anthony Fauci, the controversial National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director.
None of them were to be seen at the White House on Friday, and an NBC reporter asked Karine Jean-Pierre, Biden’s deputy press secretary, about “the doctors’” absence.
Jean-Pierre gave a bizarre answer, arguing that even though no coronavirus briefing has been held, Democrat President Joe Biden spoke in a televised address about the COVID-19 situation on Thursday.
Jean-Pierre insisted that Biden, “the leader of our country”, and a “trusted voice”, spoke for 30 minutes, which apparently is considered better than a briefing with the relevant health officials.
As the NBC reporter retorted that Biden “is not a scientist”, the deputy press secretary of the White House once again gave a weird reply.
“No, but we heard from him,” stated Karine Jean-Pierre.
But they already came to your networks!
That, however, did not mark the end of the uncomfortable questions for the Biden team, even at the hands of the pro-Democrat liberal leftist mainstream media.
A CBS reporter jumped right in, and expressed her bewilderment as to why the White House wouldn’t hold a COVID-19 briefing precisely “this week” “of all the weeks”.
Jean-Pierre then found another strange way to beat around the bush by stating that over the week both top relevant health officials, Anthony Fauci and Rochelle Wallensky, have been featured on cable news networks and have been commenting and elaborating on the CDC’s new indoor mask-wearing guidance.
The deputy press secretary of the White House declared that they haven’t been hiding, and have “been out there” speaking “on your networks” – in what appears to be a rare sign of discord between liberal leftist mainstream media establishment and Biden’s Democrat administration.
