Biden spoke to the G-7 (Group of Seven) summit on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021. While the press could not attend the online presentation, the White House gave a copy of the speech to the New York Post. During his presentation, President Biden assured the group consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the European Union that he was ending America First policies.
Biden Says America Needs Alliances
He spent 15 minutes of his presentation stressing his belief that alliances were vital. In particular, he emphasized the need to work together to end global warming and the pandemic. He also stated that America was working hard to overcome challenges to the democratic experiment and that people around the world must see that democracy is not a relic.
Returns Power to Iran
Biden’s policies will eliminate a lot of what President Trump was able to accomplish. While Trump forced countries to deal with Israel, which strengthened that country, it is clear from the speech that Biden will return power to Iran. This move will weaken peace in the region.
Plans to Get Along With Russia
The speech also outlined Biden’s plan to try to get along with Russia. In doing so, he will eliminate many of the policies that have kept Putin and his team under control.
Global Warming Agenda
He also mirrored comments first made by Climate Envoy John Kerry at the Economic Forum meeting in November. He stated that countries worldwide needed to be concerned about the world’s rising population and Brexit.
Overall, the speech clearly tried to deliver the message that America was in decline and that drastic changes must occur if the country would ever recover.
