In the days that followed the 2016 presidential election, the Democrats were vehement, even obnoxious, in their disdain for the Electoral College. In fact, the Democrats have been vocal about their hatred for the process our nation uses to elect its leader for two decades. Conveniently, now that the Dems seem to have gotten their way in an election, they believe that the Electoral College is beyond reproach.

The Republican Players

A pair of Republican politicians, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), have already made known their plans to formally object to the Electoral College count on January 6.

It is believed that Hawley and Brooks won’t be the only voices of dissent, but they have been the most vocal pair to this point. Brooks and Hawley have explained their concerns regarding counting irregularities in addition to the slate of electors in battleground states.

More Angry Democrats

While Democratic “leaders” such as Sen. Christopher Murphy (D-CT) and Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) are accusing Hawley of trying to transform America into a communist country, it seems they are choosing to ignore the dubious past of their own party. Their baseless accusations shouldn’t come as a surprise as the Democratic Party has a long history of wanting to live under one set of rules while requiring something completely different for anyone who doesn’t pledge allegiance to their liberal ways.

Hawley Calls Out Hypocrisy

Hawley has stated that in early 2005, Democratic leaders were vocal in their charges that the Electoral College votes in Ohio for President Bush should be challenged. Hawley also pointed out a more recent case, when Joe Biden, the man who may be president, became visibly agitated as he encouraged Democratic leaders in January of 2017 to challenge the Electoral College votes that Donald Trump received. Isn’t it interesting how Biden and his cohorts now uphold the sanctity of the same process that they used to doubt?

The left trying to rewrite the rules to suit their needs is nothing new. What remains to be seen is if they will be this loyal to the Electoral College should they not get the news they want in 2024.
