The Democrats have officially unveiled a resolution to impeach Donald Trump over last week’s incursion of his supporters into the Capitol in Washington.
The document accuses Trump of “inciting a rebellion” and claims that Trump actively incited last week’s violence.
The resolution also mentions Trump’s allegations of stolen elections, as well as a recording in which he allegedly asked Secretary of State Georgia to find him 11,000 votes.
The impeach resolution, which the House of Representatives will probably vote on Wednesday, could put Trump’s name in the history books.
Trump would be the first president against whom the impeachment process was initiated twice.
The majority Democratic Congress voted to impeach Trump in 2019 for putting pressure on Ukraine to investigate Biden, but the Republican-majority Senate was against it.
The resolution is based on the 14th amendment
The resolution claims that Trump has seriously endangered the security of the United States and government institutions, and has threatened the integrity of the democratic system while hindering the peaceful transition of the Office, which is why he cannot be president.
The resolution also refers to the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, noting that it prohibits the performance of public political duties by anyone who engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the US, and according to Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats, Trump did just that.
It was Nancy Pelosi who said yesterday that she would continue to pass a resolution in the case that Vice President Mike Pence does not invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from power.
It is clear that Pelosi is not choosing the means and that she is trying to “overthrow” Trump with all legal and media muscle-power she can find.
Pence is still silent
On the other hand, Vice President Mike Pence is still silent and does not comment on the events and the reaction of Democrats to the unpleasant events from the Capitol.
However, Pence’s adviser has said before that Pence opposes the activation of the 25th Amendment, which caused Democrats to unveil today’s resolution.
Republicans have previously blocked a proposal to immediately consider a resolution calling on Vice President Mike Pence to activate the 25th Amendment.
The latest resolution will be put to a vote on Wednesday, and if the mainstream media announcements are to be believed, it will be voted on affirmatively, which would surely mean the final fall of President Trump.
