In a few days, President Donald Trump will finish his 4-year presidency.
Throughout the years, the administration faced a lot of obstacles on all fronts, especially from the side of mainstream media and big tech companies.
Despite that, President Donald Trump managed to improve the lives of millions of Americans in just 4 years of his presidency.
We bring you the 10 most significant moves of the Trump administration!
1. Massive increase in employment
Since Trump became president in 2017, his administration created around 7 million new jobs!
By taking over the office from Barack Obama, Trump has committed himself to a difficult task.
His predecessor left him an unemployment rate of 10 percent, and many felt that Trump was not the right person for the difficult task of creating job opportunities.
However, in February 2020, a month before the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis, the U.S. unemployment rate was around 3.5 percent.
Unfortunately, as a result of the crisis, the rate went up to 14.7 percent in April of last year.
Still, the Trump administration managed to successfully address the problems caused by a pandemic and brought the unemployment rate back to 6.7 percent in December.
2. Tax cuts
As a result of the Trump Administration policies, Americans saw tremendous tax relief in the last couple of years.
Many Americans felt the financial benefits as a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), which brought the greatest tax reform in more than 30 years.
According to TCJA, each tax bracket received a decrease in the tax rate.
What is also significant is that the child tax credit was doubled and that estate tax was virtually eliminated.
Also, it is important to mention that the business tax rate of 35 percent fell to 21 percent.
Tax reform meant that the typical family of four earning $75,000 had to pay $2,000 less for its income taxes.
3. Protection of trade
Trump Administration also introduced several measures to enhance the position of American workers in international trade.
The most important one is a withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
The deal, meant to eliminate trade tariffs and restrictions among Pacific countries, led to many jobs being outsourced to countries in which living wages are lower than the U.S.
As a result, a lot of American workers experienced fewer job opportunities.
In addition to TPP, Trump Administration brought the end of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), replacing it with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) which included more powerful protections to American workers.
4. Energy sector growth
Thanks to the measures of the Trump administration, the United States has become the largest exporter of energy, for the first time in the last 70 years!
This came as a result of an increase in oil and natural gas production, in which America surpassed all other countries in the world.
Natural gas production reached its record of 34.9 quads in 2019.
For the first time, production exceeded consumption, thanks to which we did not have to import natural gas.
Such results would hardly have occurred if Trump Administration had not withdrawn from the detrimental Paris Climate Agreement and replaced the Obama Administration’s Clean Power Plan with the Affordable Clean Energy rule.
5. Bringing peace and stability to the world
Through decisive diplomatic actions, Trump Administration managed to improve the stability in the world.
President Trump became the first U.S. president to meet with the leader of North Korea, at the same time working towards denuclearization and freedom of American hostages abroad.
The administration also succeeded in putting pressure on autocratic regimes in Iran and Venezuela by exiting the unfavorable Iran Nuclear Deal and imposing sanctions on the Venezuelan government.
What is probably the most important is the fact that the leaving administration finally defeated ISIS caliphate in Syria and Iraq, killing its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
6. Making the U.S. Borders safe
One of the main goals of the Trump Administration was to secure American borders against illegal immigration coming from Latin American countries.
To accomplish this, the U.S. government constructed over 400 miles of a strong border wall on its border with Mexico.
As a consequence, the rate of illegal crossings has fallen by 87 percent.
The hazardous practice of Catch-and-Release became a thing of the past.
7. The First Step Act
Another major accomplishment of the Trump Administration was the enactment of the First Step Act.
This act brought the reduction of recidivism among former prisoners and helped them adjust to society by securing decent employment.
The improvement of law enforcement work led to a 5 percent decrease in the violent crime rate and a 7 percent decrease in the murder rate compared to 2016.
8. Respect for the Value of Life
Trump Administration took several actions to lower the rate of abortion across the nation.
The crucial was that taxpayer money should not be used to fund any abortion or activities that promote abortion.
Trump Administration also supported legislation against late-term abortion and blocked the federal sponsorship of fetal tissue research.
The conscience rights of physicians who oppose abortion were particularly protected.
President Trump was the first president ever to take part in the March for Life.
9. More freedom regarding healthcare
Americans faced more freedom after Trump Administration brought changes to Obamacare.
The main one was the elimination of individual mandate according to which each American had to choose an insurance plan or pay a penalty.
This decision proved to be a huge financial relief for many American families.
Reforms brought by Trump Administration also helped increase the competition in the health insurance market, thus leading to more choices for Americans.
Also, the highest number of generic drugs got approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) during the last four years.
Finally, during the Trump Administration, the incredibly high prices of drugs plummeted for the first time in 51 years.
10. Effective response to the Coronavirus
Trump Administration introduced several measures that helped control the novel coronavirus outbreak and saved millions of lives.
These include travel bans on arrivals from China and the European Union, as well as the distribution of billions of pieces of protective equipment including gloves, masks, and face shields.
The advanced testing system also helped in the control of the outbreak once it hit American communities.
Crucially, the government launched Operation Warp Speed which led to the development of vaccines such as those from Pfizer and Moderna, both proving to be effective in around 95 percent of cases.
