President Joe Biden’s Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, failed to condemn the violence caused by Antifa in Seattle and Portland on the day of the President’s inauguration when pressed by a reporter earlier this week.

How did Psaki respond?

Jen Psaki was pressed on the events by a reporter yesterday after both President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris failed to condemn the violence on their own accord.

Top senior Democrats such as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer also failed to condemn the actions of Antifa.

The reporter simply asked; “Does the President have any comment on the ongoing violence in Oregon and Washington State?”

To this simple question, Psaki gave a hollowed-out response, failing to actually condemn the violence that took place.

She argued that the administration had teams out all across the country to keep track of events on inauguration day, presumably to see the general reaction to the start of President Biden’s term.

She also cited that any unrest that occurred on inauguration day could be pinpointed as a cause from “the events that have taken place over the last couple weeks”, effectively blaming the previous administration for any violence on the day of President Biden’s swearing-in.

Why this is important?

The response of the Press Secretary to this issue is very important in determining how the Biden administration is going to deal with issues of domestic and political violence, especially from extreme groups such as Antifa.

All throughout the second half of 2020, Antifa and Black Lives Matter committed multiple acts of violence, ranging from assault, the destruction of property, and even shooting two police officers who were in their patrol car on their break.

It’s believed that the total cost of property damage caused by BLM could be up to $2billion.

These acts of violence were all condemned by the Trump administration on their own free will, whilst Democrats had to be pushed time and again to condemn the violence from the causes that they support, especially after Joe Biden started to fall in the polls throughout the month of June.

It comes as no surprise that neither President Biden nor Vice President Harris have failed to condemn the events in Seattle and Portland, after both threw their unconditional support behind Black Lives Matter and Antifa in the summer, with Harris citing BLM as a movement that will not, and should not give up.

The failure to condemn this violence is an early indicator that the Biden administration is willing to allow political violence and destruction to occur under their watch, leaving all Americans praying that eventually, they will do the right thing, condemn all political violence, no matter which side commits it.
