Republican Party Chair Ronna McDaniel, in a shamelessly and nakedly political move, has said that she wants to sit back and see what happens before deciding whether or not she will back an attempt by Donald Trump to run again for president as a Republican in 2024.
Ronna McDaniel Plays Politics
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, McDaniel is remaining studiously silent about whether or not she’ll support a Trump run in 2024. “The party has to stay neutral,” she said evasively. “I’m not telling anybody to run or not to run in 2024.”
“What I really do want to see [Trump] do, though, is help us win back majorities in 2022.”
Translation: “We, the GOP Establishment, hate Trump, but since we know that he’s wildly popular, we’ll hold our noses and pretend to support him if we have to. It would be much better, though, if we could just use him to manipulate the stupid rubes who like him into giving us power in the House and Senate once again.”
Even though McDaniel owes her position as Republican Party Chairwoman to Trump, her slimy and backstabbing behavior should not surprise anyone. This is just how politics is. Everything is always about seeing which way the wind is blowing and never, under any circumstances, displaying even a smidgeon of courage.
This is why McDaniel said virtually nothing as the election was blatantly stolen out from under Trump’s nose in 2020. Despite overwhelming evidence of significant fraud, and despite the media’s relentless lying on the subject, McDaniel did nothing to help Trump.
Trump was the man who pretty much single-handedly revived the GOP, but McDaniel and those like her just couldn’t wait to bite the hand that feeds them.
The GOP: The Grifting Old Party
Faithless and self-serving behavior like this is precisely why so many millions of Americans who support Trump think that he should abandon the party that has so clearly abandoned him—and abandoned ordinary Americans—and create an alternative “Patriot Party” instead.
Of course, if Trump does decide to run in 2024 as a Republican and not form a new party, then people like McDaniel will be sure to jump on the bandwagon and do anything possible to ride Trump’s coattails. For people like McDaniel and the rest of the Republican establishment, the political revolution that Trump started was never about changing things or rolling back the destructive gains made by the left.
It was always only about one thing: grifting. The second that vultures like McDaniel perceive an opportunity to grift off of Trump again, they will act like they supported him all along.
The likes of McDaniel should never be allowed to get away with doing this.
The Republican establishment is a gaggle of grifters whose only real interest lies in handing out sinecures to their friends. This is why, at virtually every moment when it really counted, the Republican establishment caved in to the left and sold out Trump.
No meaningful and lasting change will ever come to Washington until these people are gone from power. If Trump is forced to work with them, his agenda will only be stymied. The GOP establishment didn’t like Trump in 2016 or in 2020. They won’t like him in 2024, either. They’ll just pretend to.
Hopefully, Trump and his supporters realize this and kick people like Ronna McDaniel to the curb.
