A Twitter troll decided to play a little joke on the Democrats by altering a Maxine Waters quote to make it look like she was attacking New York governor Andrew Cuomo and his administration.

Of course, because so many in the Democratic Establishment are humorless ghouls, they responded to this playful ribbing with sputtering outrage.

Twitter Plays a Joke on Maxine Waters

Recently, a report has been issued by New York Attorney General Letitia James pointing out that Cuomo’s administration may have undercounted the number of COVID-19 deaths linked to its nursing home policy by as much as 50%.

Governor Cuomo ordered nursing home patients who tested positive for COVID-19 to be admitted into nursing homes, triggering thousands of deaths. Those who attempted to gather statistics and data about this were repeatedly blocked by the administration. But now, according to this report, it seems that as many as 13,000 people may have died because of Cuomo’s policy.

In response, a satirical Twitter account called Cuomo Watch tweeted out the following altered quote which was supposedly from Maxine Waters:

“If you see anybody from the Cuomo Administration in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

Of course, the account made it blatantly obvious that this was not a real Maxine Waters quotation. The fake quote was attributed in the tweet to a “Maxine CuomoWatch.”

Obviously, this quote was taken from a real quote by Maxine Waters, said back in 2018, about members of the Trump Administration.

Democrats Pretend Not to Understand Humor

Nevertheless, Democrats made fools of themselves by exploding into outrage. Former Pete Buttigieg advisor Lis Smith called the comment, “Way way way [sic] over the line.” New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul took to Twitter to whine that, “This is encouraging violence against public officials - plain & simple.”

New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, New York State Assembly Speaker Carl E. Heastie, New York State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajukmar and even Democratic New York Congressman Ritchie Torres — among many other Democrats — all complained about the tweet and acted as if it were a serious threat. Virtually all of them hearkened back to the Capitol Hill riot of Jan. 6 — which they ludicrously called an “insurrection” — as they did so.

Whether these Democrats are stupid enough to not understand that this is a joke or whether they are deliberately grandstanding is almost beside the point. The fact that such a pathetic reaction could be exhibited at all is worrying in itself.
