This week, the Democrats said they are planning to ax Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committee assignments. In response, several House Republicans have decided to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from her committee assignments as well.

According to Fox News reporter Chad Pergram, Reps. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina, Ronny Jackson of Texas, Brian Babin of Texas, Andy Biggs of Arizona, and Jody Hice of Georgia are among those sponsoring the legislation.

A Conspiracy Theorist

As a conspiracy theorist, Omar has attracted a lot of criticism in the past due to her remarks about Israel. One of her most famous claims is that “Israel has hypnotized the world.”

When Omar won her race back in 2018, she made her support for the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement public, saying that she “supports the BDS movement, and has fought to make sure people’s right to support it isn’t criminalized.”

That wasn’t her initial stand, however. During her campaign, she once said that the BDS movement was “counteractive.”

Earlier on, Omar had gotten herself into trouble by associating the Republicans’ support of Israel to the “Benjamins.” Indubitably, she was referring to the Jewish lobbying groups’ financial influence.

Some Democrats and Republicans condemned her “anti-Semitic” statements, and she apologized, saying that she didn’t intend to “offend her constituents or Jewish Americans as a whole.”

It’s Also Good for the Gander

While speaking with Fox News, Biggs likened Greene’s remarks to those of Omar and other democrats.

“On the other hand, you have comments from Ilhan Omar, Nancy Pelosi … a whole plethora of folks who, while they’re sitting here, have made offensive or dangerous statements as well,” Biggs said, without elaborating.

“We’re really trying to say, look, if it’s good for the goose, it’s good for the gander, but maybe what should happen is we let Republicans take care of our own, and you Democrats take care of your own…”
