Washington DC has become centre stage for multiple protests going into the new year, after the January 6th riots, violence through protests is now wholeheartedly condemned by both sides…or is it?
Everyone saw how quickly the media and the political establishment denounced anyone involved in the January 6th protest, which turned violent.
The reason for this?
This was the first time a right-wing protest had turned violent on their own accord, so of course, it was quickly denounced.
However, when Antifa and Black Lives Matter threaten to burn DC down (again), then no one bats an eyelid.
Another DC protest?
Yep. Antifa and Black Lives Matter took part in the ‘DC Queer and Trans Black History Month March and Rally’ yesterday in Washington DC, as Black History Month is celebrated across the United States, however, as with every other Antifa rally, things went sour.
The protest was organised by the Total Liberation Collective and the Palm Collective and was due to start at 2 pm in the centre of DC. By the evening, the protesters marched north from Dupont Circle.
Antifa were clearly visible, being the only organisation that has to state that they are against fascism, a position that any logical individual holds without the need for reassurance.
The Antifa protesters carried a flag, coloured red with black with the motto ‘Antifascist Action’ scrawled on it.
Scuffles broke out between protesters and police near some restaurants after an officer knocked a flashlight out of one of the protesters’ hands, as reported on Twitter by independent journalist Brendan Gutenschwager, who attended the protest.
The crowd opened up with the classic Black Lives Matter chants, before an unsavoury threat of burning DC down to the ground followed shortly after.
BLM and Antifa are misusing the data
The protesters also claimed that ‘despite black lives mattering, black people are still dying at the hands of the police paid for by our tax dollars’.
This sentiment is true but also false in the grand scheme of things.
People of all races get killed by police, but it is not disproportionate.
More white people are shot to death by police than black people, year on year.
Even in 2021, according to Statista, 14 whites have been shot by police, compared to 7 black people.
The idea and the narrative that Black Lives Matter lead on comes from a direct misunderstanding of these facts, and threats of political violence doesn’t help their cause amongst centrists.
At least they don’t have to worry about being dogpiled by the media when they commit violence in the name of politics…one rule for us.
