The second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump is set to begin this week. While the Trump defense team is going to focus on the argument that the Senate lacks jurisdiction to impeach, impeachment lawyer Bruce Castor recently revealed that the team will take another approach as well.

Details of Defense Plan

In an interview with Laura Ingraham of Fox News, Castor discussed how the Trump defense team will approach the trial. Castor said that part of the plan is to present videos of Democratic leaders encouraging violence. The attorney said that they have a substantial amount of videotape detailing attacks on courthouses and assaults of federal agents. These incidents were encouraged by Democrats all over the nation, using harsh rhetoric to support the violence.

Despite this video evidence, the Democrats continue to lean on their argument that it was only Trump who encouraged violence. This is contrary to the fact that there is clear video evidence of Trump saying that he wants his supporters to peacefully march to the Capitol just prior to the January 6 attacks.

Castor’s Examples

Castor was able to give Ingraham plenty of specific examples of Democrats who were guilty of inciting violence. In particular, Castor brought up Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters for turning a blind eye to the antics of BLM and Antifa over the summer of unrest. In addition, Castor put blame on Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and Sen. Cory Booker for supporting violence yet calling out the former president for doing the same thing. There is no limit to the hypocrisy and Castor plans to prove it with his defense.
