Biden Team Trying to Fix Border Problem by Addressing Issues in Third-World Countries
It would appear as if the only plan that President Joe Biden has to solve the mounting crisis at the border is to go to battle against the powerful drug cartels, reduce violence in third-world countries and improve the economic standings of various countries in Central America.
According to an official in the Biden administration, the team plans to address the root issue of migration from Central American countries such as Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. Critics of this plan say that it is not the job of the U.S. to fix the issues at the border by trying to solve the inherent problems present in these countries.
Remain in Mexico Policy
Under the direction of former President Donald Trump, the country implemented a “Remain in Mexico” policy. This policy mandated that asylum seekers could not simply cross the border and make a claim to stay. Trump did not accept economic reasons as an excuse to seek asylum.
In addition, Trump did not accept violence in the home county as a reason to seek asylum. This excuse is particularly ironic when you consider that many of America’s cities have crime rates that are even far worse than the Central American countries that these migrants are fleeing.
Compare to Biden
Compare Trump’s policies to the lax rules of the Biden administration.
The current president continues to promote free health care and green cards, causing this massive surge at the border that is getting increasingly difficult to control.
It is clear that the only way to discourage this influx of migrants is to enforce the law.
