Former Obama Physician Writes Letter Expressing Concern Over Biden
A former physician for both Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump is calling on President Joe Biden to submit a cognitive test. Rep. Ronny Jackson sent a letter to Biden on Thursday expressing concern over what he called the president’s “mental decline and forgetfulness.”
Details of Letter
The letter was signed by over 10 lawmakers, including health care professionals. Those that signed the letter asked that Biden follow the precedent of the presidents before him and submit to a test that would demonstrate his sound mental capabilities. Jackson said that the move was necessary because Biden’s mental acuity has been called into question over the last 18 months.
Those signing the letter want the president to take a cognitive test immediately and release the results to the public.
Jackson used this official letter to document specific examples of Biden’s forgetfulness. Examples included Biden’s tendency to forget names and well-known phrases.
By laying out these specific examples, the Republican representative made his case that Biden may indeed be dealing with some type of mental decline related to age.
Jackson’s Past Medical Experience
Jackson boasts a long history working on the medical team with the White House. He originally began his career with the White House Medical Unit (WHMU) in 2006 when President Bush was in office. He began the stint as lead physician to the president in July 2013, holding this position until March of 2018.
Jackson also held the coveted position of WHMU director from March 2010 through December 2014. After this time at the White House, Jackson launched his own political career, representing Texas’ 13th Congressional District.
