Three of the dozens of Democrat members of the House of Representatives of the state of Texas, who have fled to Washington, DC in order to prevent the GOP from passing election security legislation, have contracted the coronavirus!
The news that three Democrats from the Texas state House tested positive earlier this week was announced in a statement by the Texas House Democratic Caucus on Saturday.
According to the caucus, all three of those infected with COVID-19 are actually fully vaccinated.
The statement the Texas HDC issued did not reveal their names.
One of the three runaway Texas Democrats tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday night, which led all members of the caucus and their staff to take rapid tests for COVID-19.
Thus, the rapid tests revealed on Saturday that two more of the political fugitives tested positive.
Kamala Harris met the infected, but won’t get tested!
Chris Turner, the chairman of the Texas House Democratic Caucus, stated that the group has been following the safety guidelines and protocols of the CDC.
Its members also contacted for additional guidance from public health experts back home in Texas.
Turner declared that the infections of three of his colleagues are “a sober reminder” of the still continuing vitality of COVID-19, and that, while vaccinations give a great degree of protection, all precautions still ought to be observed.
According to the current guidelines of the CDC, fully vaccinated people exposed to COVID-19 do not need to be quarantined or tested if they are not showing any symptoms – unless they happen to be in jail or a homeless shelter.
Earlier this week, a number of Texas Democrat lawmakers flew on private jets from Austin to Washington, DC, in order to prevent the GOP from having a quorum in the state House and thus pass an election security bill.
The Democrats argue that it is restricting the voting rights of minorities.
After their flight to Washington, members of the Texas HDC met with Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris and members of the US Congress, including Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader, and Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia.
On Saturday, Harris’ spokesperson, Symone Sanders announced that the vice president on Tuesday met with two of the fugitive Texas Democrats who have now tested positive for COVID-19.
Sanders explained that Harris and her staff were not at risk of contracting the coronavirus based on the timeline of the positive tests and the fact that there was no close contact with the Texas House members.
Thus, Biden’s VP isn’t going to be quarantined or even tested.
A spokesperson for Sen. Chuck Schumer said that none of the infected Texan Democrats has been in contact with his office.
