Having been handed Afghanistan on a plate by Democrat President Joe Biden, the radical Islamist Taliban is not just marching on the capital Kabul but also having fun scavenger hunting in the process.
Various social media videos show that the Taliban have seized a number of US-made Blackhawk helicopters, worth $6 million apiece, as part of tons of other US military equipment lavishly supplied to the incapable Afghan forces.
Besides that, the radical Islamists have formed their own air force from captured Soviet-made Mi-17 helicopters that they got after capturing Afghanistan’s second-largest city, Kandahar, a couple of days ago.
Taliban insurgents can be seen flying the Russian-made Mi-17s in a number of videos posted on social media – although technically the Soviet-era choppers are piloted by Afghan government pilots turned to the Taliban.
The painful symbolism of Blackhawks’ capture
The Islamist insurgents’ capture of the US-made Blackhawks is just the tip of the iceberg as they have seized all kinds of equipment from the ungrateful Afghan military whose servicemen have mostly fled without even putting up a fight as Joe Biden moved to abandon all progress the United States made in Afghanistan fighting the war on terror in the past 20 years.
Over the course of the period since 9/11, the billions of US tax dollars-worth of armaments supplied to the Afghan military have now ended up in the hands of precisely the radical Islamists thanks to the betrayal of the leftist radical Biden administration of the American cause – something that even Biden’s ex-boss Barack Obama didn’t dare do during his two-term presidency.
According to reports, the Taliban are unlikely to be able to fly the Blackhawks.
Yet, it is the symbolism for the United States that is devastating.
The top-notch military choppers were made world-known by the 2001 Ridley Scott film “Blackhawk Down” about the 1993 American pullout from Somalia after the Battle of Mogadishu in which the then Democrat President Bill Clinton abandoned positions after 18 Americans were killed by radical Islamists – and Somalia has been in utter collapse ever since.
In Afghanistan, however, as it is painfully known to patriotic Americans, the stakes are much, much higher because, during their former rule of the Central Asian country in 1996-2001, the Taliban presented it as a base to al-Qaeda, which committed the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, DC.
Now that the Taliban are about to recapture all of Afghanistan, with the surrender of Kabul deemed to be days or maybe even hours away, a restoration of al-Qaeda and/or ISIS in the country is very likely.
Taliban conquest vs. senile Joe’s disgraceful evacuation
Nonetheless, the leftist, radicalizing administration of increasingly senile Sleepy Joe Biden doesn’t seem to care about any of that.
As of Saturday night, the Taliban had conquered 24 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.
The Afghan government is in control only of Kabul and some territories in the center and east of the country.
On Saturday, the radical Islamists captured the entirety of Logar province, just south of the capital, tightening further their stranglehold on the besieged city.
Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan’s fourth-largest city, also fell to the Taliban who have conquered Herat and Kandahar, the third and second-largest cities, respectively, in the past few days.
As the Taliban are committing various kinds of unimaginable atrocities around the country and apportioning women and girls, some as young as 12, as their fighters’ sex slaves, Joe Biden is carrying out a disgraceful evacuation of the US Embassy in Kabul secured by 4,000 US troops, as are other Western countries, NATO allies shocked by the betrayal by Biden of the entire West.
