Oscar-nominated actress Ellen Page, 33, who became famous for her roles in the films Juno and Inception, has announced that she identifies as a transgender man named Elliot.
A few years ago, Ellen discovered she was a lesbian, only to discover today that she is actually a trans man.
In her public address on Facebook, Ellen stated that her name is from now on Elliot and that her pronouns are “he” and “they”. She also took the opportunity to warn political leaders about discrimination directed against members of the trans community.
She noted that only this year, about 40 members of the trans community were killed, and most of the victims were members of the Latinx and black ethnic groups.
The circumstances that led to the deaths of these individuals are not mentioned.
Elliot thanked loved ones for their support, adding that he was “despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared. I’m scared of the invasiveness, the hate, the “jokes” and of violence.”.
It was previously announced that Ellen will star in the third season of Netflix’s series The Umbrella Academy who have announced that they are very proud of their superhero with the message “We love you, Elliot”.
